-
Training for non-acting roles will begin in mid August.
-
You will be given information on our full range of dates, once you are brought on as a volunteer. Hurricane season may impact operation at times, and you will be given as much advance notice as possible to prevent travel in unsafe conditons.
WHERE: 2837 South Frontage Road, Plant City, FL 33566 - exit 22 off of I4 on either side of the highway.
What Do I Need to Know and Bring for the Audition?
Sir Henry's Haunted Trail is an outdoor haunted attraction located in Plant City, Florida.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Reliable transportation, whether parking onsite or being dropped off. Punctuality. Able to volunteer, whether on your feet or via a mobility aid, for three days a week for 6 hours or less at a time with designated breaks during the month of October. Ability to work with the public, or an eagerness to learn how to do so. Must love being outdoors, horror and Halloween.
For our open auditions potential volunteer actors and staff should know and be prepared for the following:
-
Just bring yourself a bottle of water. No need to bring resumes, portfolios, costumes, or props.
-
We have volunteers ranging in age from 12 and up
-
The audition will include a one-on-one interview asking basic background and experience questions
-
The majority of the audition will be done as a group
-
The audition will be outdoors, and it will be physical. A lot of our property is on dirt versus asphalt, so please wear appropriate clothing (no nice clothes, jeans, etc. workout clothes and sunscreen recommended)
-
We are open to volunteers of all physical ability. Even if you rely on a mobility aid, or experience any types of visual or audio challenges, we urge you to come volunteer or apply to be part of our staff. We will help accommodate you as best as we can!
-
Even if you are wanting to work staff or our makeup team (non acting role) please come out to this audition as well, so we can get you set up on our scare team..
-
We appreciate our volunteers! While we do not pay for your time, you will be given hydration, you will be given a safe and creative environment to practice your craft, shorter hours so as to avoid getting "burnt out," and you will be part of our cast parties at the end of every season where we will have food, treats, a DJ, an awards ceremony, and usually fun games such as a scavenger hunt.
“We rely on volunteers because we are a 501c3, with anything extra that can be construed as profits going towards construction, improvements, new attractions, hiring vendors, and similar tasks. Since we don’t pay scare actors or staff, it also opens the door for minors from middle schools and high schools to come get experience scare acting, as well as working with the general public via ticket taking, helping with parking, and other tasks that give them a head start on figuring out their professions for when they get older.” -Zach Glaros, owner of Sir Henry's Haunted Trail
PERKS FOR VOLUNTEERS: Free parking, free food, free water, access to Port-o-potty restrooms and handwashing stations. There are also end-of-season parties for after the Halloween and Christmas haunted events to thank volunteers for weeks of hard work, where gift cards and trophies to recognize dedication are awarded. High schoolers get to log service hours volunteering for the haunt, as well as being able to request a letter of recommendation for colleges and grants from the haunt owner. Participants at the haunt also grow strong friendships with one another and are able to attend off season team building events. There is also the opportunity to meet influencers and celebrities at media night events. Police are also onsite on a nightly basis to ensure extra safety.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SAFETY AND RULES:
-
There is not a bag policy in place, but the staff at Sir Henry’s ask that you please not bring any concealed weapons during tryouts, rehearsals, during volunteering, or off-season events
-
No filming/lighting/photography on the trails (even behind the scenes, unless approved of by Zach)
-
For those old enough to partake, keep all smoking or vaping outside of the main guest area - never in front of guests
-
The event is outdoors, so putting on bug spray before arriving for volunteering and wearing closed toe comfortable shoes you do not mind getting dirty are both highly recommended
-
Those sensitive to strobe lights or have sensitivities to artificial fog, or being in the proximity of stage makeup and artificial Halloween props, should avoid doing any volunteering with Sir Henry’s
-
Please do not visit Sir Henry’s if you have been exposed to COVID-19 or are having any COVID-19 symptoms, as well as any cold or flu symptoms
-
Guests who harass or touch our scare actors, or knowingly cause harm to other guests while visiting, will be trespassed from our event, and this policy is also in place for volunteers who harm or harass other volunteers
